fire station field trip

Cole and I went with his pre-school class on a field trip to the fire station today! The kids had fun checking out the living quarters, reviewing fire safety rules & climbing through the fire trucks!

This is one of Cole's best buddies--Derek. We are thankful that Derek is not only in Cole's class, but also a neighbor!

baseball season begins

Luke and Grant have both started their baseball seasons. Because Terry is coaching and has been with Luke at every practice, tonight's game is the first I have seen Luke in action. . .he had a great game--a few good hits and even 3 outs in one inning! It will be a fun season to watch!
Look for pictures of Grant later this week--his first game is on Saturday.

"taylor girls weekend"

I got to spend the weekend with some of the most incredible girls! It seems to be about every April a group of us from Taylor gather for a time of catching up, a break from our kids and a weekend full of laughter. This weekend was no different. Nine of us went back to Upland--thanks to Traci for hosting us in her new, beautiful home--for a walk thru our college days.
Really, we didn't do much--which is kind of how things always were at Taylor--not a ton to do, but yet it really didn't matter! Of course we had a couple (yes, a couple) of trips to Ivanhoe's (100 shakes, 100 sundaes) and a trip to TOPPIT (The Only Pizza Place In Town). In between meals, we managed to walk the loop, see a few buildings, check out the old dorm-Olson (my home away from home because I lived in English. . .thanks 1EO girls for always taking me in!) and even visit the ETC (Educational Technology Center--WOW has it ever changed). Besides all of this, we managed to talk, talk and talk, stay up late and laugh a lot. Thanks, girls, for a reguvinating weekend.

spring break

I was just saying to a friend that we have had such a great spring break. . .we stayed home and didn't do much or anything out of the ordinary. I was trying to figure out why it has been so pleasant and realized it is because of the weather. We were blessed with mostly warm and sunny weather and the kids have been OUTSIDE most of the week. This makes for happy kids and, even more importantly, a happy mommy!

We enjoyed a visit from our friend's, the Michel's today! It is always great to catch up and watch the kids play. . .they get along so well! It was fun to see Elise, who they adopted from Guatemala almost a year ago; and all of the other kids have gotten SO tall. Thanks for coming Michels!

The boys always love going becuase it means they get to be outside a ton, go fishing , raking and burning leaves for papa and ride in the pick-up. Of course a wiener roast on Saturday was topped off by eating yummy s'mores!

amazing story

A few months back, I posted a link to this blog. . .an amazing story you might want to read. In brief, Tricia (in the picture above) has Cystic Fibrosis and was waiting for a lung transplant when she found out she was pregnant. Tricia gave birth to Gwyneth Rose about 15 weeks early. As of now, Gwyneth is a little over 2 pounds. Tricia, after giving birth and a number of weeks of recovery got back on the list for a transplant. Just this week, she received her NEW lungs! This family could continue to use prayer. . .they have already been in the hospital (Duke) for over 3 months and it could be a number of months before they get out.
