field day

When field day hits, you know that school is winding down! With rain in the forecast, we ended up have super weather and the kids had a blast. This year there was an Olympic Theme and Luke's class dressed in green representing Portugal. The kids did a TON of relays and had a TON of fun.

class picnic

Grant and Cole had their class picnics today . It was a bit cool and gloomy, but by the time we were ready to leave, the sun came out and things warmed up! I absolutely LOVE the look on the boys' faces in this first picture. They were SO excited to give Mrs. Lamke her gift certificate to the nursery. . .look at their little faces :) .
Cole had such a great year with Mrs. Lamke. . .teaching preschool is her TRUE passion. We have been so blessed that she has had each of our boys in her class.

Of course Grant found a caterpiller to play with. . .
and Cole loved climbing on the "spider web."

letter jacket

A rainy day with nothing on my calendar was motivation to head to the basement storage and get it cleaned out before the garage sale in a few weeks. I found Terry's jr. high letter jacket. It was fitting to have Grant model it. . .especially since we call him Terry Jr.!

my birthday

The best thing about turning 34 this past week (there's never really anything great about getting a year older, now that I am an adult!) was getting to eat the best cake in the world--the chocolate xtreme icecream cake from Dairy Queen. mmmm.

cole's mother's day program

Cole had his "Mother's Day Program" at school today. . .this age is so sweet! His teacher came in to the room before the program started and said the kids were so excited, they could hardly contain themselves! This is the third time I have heard these songs and every time they end with the song "You are My Sunshine." The second verse, though begins with "You are my mommy, my dearest mommy. . . "oh--it goes on, but I will probably cry again!

the boys raid UPLAND!

The boys and I went up to Taylor today so that I could go to chapel (our pastor received an honorary doctorate and spoke--very exciting for him, and well deserved!) and to spend the day with one of my most favorite people, Traci and her kids! While we were the there, we grabbed a few pix of the boys. . . nothing to serious, as you can tell, but I did get a few cute ones and I am sure she will have some even better pix on her blog soon!

grant's mother's day program

I was treated with an extra special touch at Grant's Mother's Day Program at school today. The mommies enjoyed some special music and were served cookies and juice!

Our neighbors Grant and Kylie are in Grant's preschool class and we also carpool . . .as pictured below, there are many times we say, "poor Kylie!" She sure puts up with a lot!

cousin sleep-over

Cole had his first sleepover without his brothers last night. He and his cousin, Joey, had a super time. They were up until 10 talking about Star Wars, up at 6:30 ready to eat the donuts that Joey brought and had a fun morning playing together. Both enjoyed long naps, and from the look of Cole after his nap (last photo) , he is still a bit tired!

strawberries

Cole love, love, LOVES strawberries. I LOVE this picture. He just woke up from his nap, asked for a snack and I told him there were fresh strawberries in the fridge. Next time I see him he has an almost empty bowl in front of him and a face full of strawberry juice. Peacefully he ate about a pound of berries by himself. . .no brothers to share with. Just the way he likes it. {My other favorite part of this photo is the tan line on the bridge of his nose from his glasses!}

personal best program

Luke earned a medal at the Personal Best Program at school today. The award is based on attendance, character traits and maximum effort throughout the entire school year. Lukey, we are proud you are our son!!

play ball!

Grant's baseball season started last week. It is comical to watch boys this age "play." Let's just say that we get a little bit of playing (see photo below) and a lot of goofing (see bottom photo). The attention span is not so long for these boys. . .there is a lot of looking around, kicking the dirt and even filling up their gloves with dirt! When the ball is hit, 6 boys chase it and then NO ONE knows where to throw it! Funny. There will be improvement throughout the season, but for now we get a lot of good laughs!

cool creek park

Luke had a field trip to Cool Creek Park today. . .the kids LOVED it! There were 7 stations that the classes rotated to, all related to nature. I got to go on the trip and worked at the leaf print station. It's always fun to be with the kids, especially at this age. Everyone enjoyed a break in the day with a bit of time at the playground and some lunch!
