Happy 4th Birthday, Cole!

Cole turns 4 today. I have finally convinced him that when he is talking to mommy, he can tell me he is turning 3 again. . .that's because I told him he is not allowed to get any bigger!

Cole was our surprise baby and we just couldn't be any more thankful for him. We melt at the sight of those DARK brown eyes. He has the cutest little smile with 2 subtle dimples that pop out at just the right time. The hair, with all of its wave, is so much FUN to style in the morning. Daily he gets a crazy hair-do first and then says that Mrs. Lamke (his pre-school teacher) won't like it--"please make it look nice." His glasses have turned him into a little man.

He is my biggest helper in the kitchen. As soon as I bang on a bowl, pot or pan I hear, "Mom, watcha makin"? And then he comes running, always willing to help. His favorite job. . .cracking eggs, and he does it like a pro.

He loves to watch Power Rangers--any of the series. . .Operation Overdrive, SPD, DinoThunder, Mystic Force. And, he can't wait for Power Rangers Jungle Fury to start in February. He is also very into Star Wars and constantly has a light saber hooked on his pants. He and Grant talk Star Wars stuff non-stop.

Cole still takes a nap every afternoon and would sleep for hours if I didn't wake him up. He LOVES his blanky, but what he loves even more is "melling" (smelling) it. If it doesn't smell good enough, he throws it in the laundry and get a clean one out of his drawer. Thank goodness for extras!Passionate about stuffed dogs (and a few other items too) it is hard to imagine there is any room in his bed for him!

The boy of many names: Roland, Boo, BooBerry, Colis, Rolinda, boomiscycle, Alex & Love (and of course grandpa's nicknames for him: ice cream tummy and Princess).

He is his brothers biggest fan! Maybe not by choice, but he attends every football, basketball and baseball game and sometimes even cheers them on! I don't think I have heard a complaint about going to a game yet.

It is amazing at the details Cole picks up on in life. . .it seems as if he always knows what is going on; This is due to the fact that he listens to EVERYTHING! Even when he is in the middle of doing other things, somehow he has tuned in all other conversations.

One of my favorite things about Cole is his CONTAGIOUS laugh. It is so hearty and likable; no lovable! He is blessed to have friends that are lovable just like he is . . .a group of sweet, nice boys--how often do you hear that phrase??!!!!

Happy Birthday, big boy! You are one fine kid!

25 cent socks

About a week and a half ago I made a new rule. If you don't turn your socks the right side out, you have to pay me a quarter. Can you imagine that I have not had to turn ONE sock to the right side??!! It's amazing how quickly the boys decided to follow my rule when I added a stiffer consequence and it's also amazing how much less time it takes me to sort through and "fix" all the socks before throwing in a load :) .

how blessed we are. . .

It is kind of strange how today there have been 3 different blog sites that I have come across that have made me stop. . .read. . . cry. . .and think. Think about how there are SO many people that need prayer, heartfelt crying out to our Lord. These families have been broken, split apart and others long to stay together. If you have a chance read about and pray for them:

sinus surgery

Last week I had sinus surgery. The Dr. said I would have to mouth breathe for a few days. No big deal--just like when you have a cold, right? Not exactly. I am not a claustrophobic person, but in the middle of the night, when I was exhausted and couldn't catch a good deep breath of air, I felt trapped. I slept in a chair for many nights, but not last night. I was in our bed for the first time. WOW! how amazing to get a full night's sleep. And, now I can breathe through my nose again--such a good feeling and it's amazing to feel the air pass through your head. I never know this is how it was supposed to be!!
Our family has been blessed to have many wonderful meals brought to us while I recover--thanks to all of you who have helped and for the many phone calls to check in on me.
